Event Alert TODAY + Next Week: Emergency Pandemic Assistance for Foster Youth

The clock is ticking on emergency pandemic assistance for older and former foster youth, but help is on the horizon. Rhode Island Congressmember Jim Langevin has introduced legislation that would extend financial federal assistance past this month's deadline and increase the amount of assistance available for states to distribute to older foster youth and those who have recently transition out of the child welfare system.

Join NFYI and Congressman Langevin for two important conversations about the new legislation.

First, on Thursday, September 9th, NFYI be holding a virtual Congressional briefing along with FosterClub. You'll learn more about the bill from Rep. Langevin and you'll hear from a panel of experts, including participants with lived experience. RSVP to join us on Thursday, 9/9 at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

A week later, NFYI follow up with a virtual Town Hall with Rep. Langevin that will give current and former foster youth across the country a chance to ask questions and share details about what's happening in their states. Sign up to join us on September 16 at 3pm PT/6pm ET.

This important series of conversations is made possible thanks to our partnership with the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth, which Rep. Langevin chairs. Throughout the pandemic, caucus members have consistently met with NFYI members and partners to hear directly from current/former foster youth how about they've been impacted by the pandemic. These conversations have led to efforts to protect the healthcare, housing, education, and finances of foster and transition age youth.

We urge you to continue to be part of these very important conversations. They are making a difference!
